News broke on the 1st August of the discovery of a weak Gravitational Shielding effect to do with Superconductivity.

The closest approach of mars and earth for 60,000 years occured on 27th August this year.

The Space Shuttle Columbia broke up on re-entry in january after being damaged by foam falling off the main tank during launch. An investigation confirmed that the management problems that contributed to the earlier (1986) Challenger shuttle disaster had not been fixed.

Some disreputable companies have been trying to mislead people into transfering their domain names from 123-reg to their higher priced services. While 123-reg customers are being targeted, they are not the only ones.

There were also quite a few books and movies created this year.
