Turkey instigates a genocide of over a million armenian christians, which the nazi's used as a model for their genocide in 1939. In 2005 a leading turkish novelist was being prosecuted for bringing it up.

The American Civilian liner the Lucitania was sunk by Germany. This brought America into World War 1.
