Representatives of U.S. President Richard Nixon got caught breaking into the headquarters of his political enemies, the watergate building. It eventually lead to his impeachment after a lot of good work by a couple of journalists.

The story got written up in the book "all the president's men", which got made into the 1976 film of the same name.

The Actress Cameron Diaz was born this year.
